Defendant Smacks His Attorney in the Face-Attorney Probably Deserved It
Conservative Lawyer Chicks are HotOr not:
A Neptune man on trial on charges of assaulting a civilian, police officer and police dog during a 2008 chase in Monmouth County smacked his attorney in the face this morning, and was quickly tackled by sheriff’s officers, as he was called to the witness stand to testify.
Four Ocean County sheriff’s officers pounced on Anthony Montgomery and struggled with him on the floor of the courtroom after Montgomery, 41, a paroled bank robber, hauled off and smacked Deputy Assistant Public Defender Philip Pagano in the face, just above the attorney’s right eye.
The assault occurred in front of a jury that was empaneled to determine whether Montgomery is guilty of eluding police, aggravated assault on a civilian, carjacking, aggravated assault on a police officer, disarming a police officer, resisting arrest, harming a law-enforcement animal, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of prohibited, hollow-nose bullets and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
