CNSNews Covers the Surge Rally (and quotes yours truly in the process)

Ok NOW I’ve made an ass out of myself. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em!And I didn’t make a total ass of myself.

Well, I’ll let you be the judge of that:

Russ Cote of New Jersey said this is the third event he has attended to protest a proposed health care system that he said is unsustainable and unconstitutional.

“It’s simple economics,” Cote told CNSNews.com. “We’re going to go broke. We’re going to go broke fast.”

Cote said if the bill passed with a mandate requiring every American to buy health insurance, he would not comply.

“If there’s a mandate, I can tell you this — my own form of political protest – I won’t do it and I’ll be a test case if I have to,” Cote said. “I wouldn’t pay the fine either. I’d make them throw me in jail.”

Of course I would always prefer a greater chance to supply some context and detail to my quotes, but I will tell you that’s pretty much exactly what I said. Kudos to Penny Starr at CNS.

It’s true too; a gigantic, $2.5 trillion new entitlement program on top of the ones that are already going broke is unsustainable.

Anyone who tells you that it’s Constitutional to force someone to buy a product they don’t want on the threat of a huge fine and/or jail time is a buffoon. Anyone who tells you that “health care” is a legitimate area of concern for the federal government is a buffoon and anyone who tells you that “deeming” a bill passed in contravention to the centuries-old Constitutional method is, well, a buffoon. Thank God Mark Levin is on top of things.

(Incidentally Mark, if you’re reading this, I’ve sent you my resume’ and will work for free.)

The picture gallery from yesterday’s rally should be live shortly and I’ll update this post with the URL.

Michelle’s way easier on the eyes and is even more beautiful in person.

Well said, Russ. They won't even have room in the jails for all of us....

@Robot: Thanks man. I do my best.

@Scratch: No...they won't.

Crusty,

You realize that this isn't about health care, it's about bringing in more money to fund the 50 trillion in entitlements we've promised ourselves. We're already broke!

I say let it burn.

BrownStain! You rat bastard, when the hell you gonna man up and come home brother!

I was trying to be tongue-in-cheek. I know we're broke, insofar as credit is not the same as cash in your pocket. And with the obligatory news today that China is nothing more than history's biggest BubbleYum, it's more evident than ever.

Being the pseudo-naturalist that you are, that's an easy statement; trust me, I'm coming to your house if the ammo is needed. The point is that being the optimist that I am today (and that varies from hour to hour) I don't think we're ready to burn...yet.

Get your lame ass back to Jersey sometime kid. We'd love to show you what's up.

HA! Pseudo naturalist. I prefer "armed pragmatist".

I need to see grandma anyway, I'll be up soon.

Yeh, and I'd prefer to be a 6' 2" MMA wizard; 'preferences', like hopes, are a wonderful thing. Witness: Obama.

I've been hearing your "I'll be up there" crap since you punked out in vegas a decade ago.

But I'm willing to give a benefit for a doubt...we had some good times.

Let's finish that treehouse son. All of us, can't wait.
