For those of you living under a rock...
…Tucker Carlson’s ‘Conservative/Libertarian answer to HuffPo debuted on Monday. Here’s a real quick review:
- By far the best thing going over there is and will be that Jim Treacher is writing the blog. They call it the “DC Trawler” and early returns indicate that it’ll be as funny and well-written as Treacher’s own blog. Good luck Treach…make us proud.
- The layout is visually appealing; it’s not too cluttered but has a wonderful array of content, all of which is easily accessible and navigable.
- S.E. Cupp is hot and she writes over there too. Note to Ms. Cupp: I drink Whiskey because that’s what I drink too. And I’m a lawyer. How ‘bout we bust up some stereotypes you have and polish off a fifth of Wild Turkey together. We can talk about deer-hunting, Warmongering and Housatonic Trout ‘til the flatulent cows come home. Call me!
- I get why he did it, but having Arianna Huffington write a ridiculously self-serving piece of tripe to open the gates wasn’t the smartest move…except perhaps that he may have succeeded in smoke signalling a million Daily Kossacks to spam the site for the foreseeable future. Great for traffic, but something tells me it’s gonna stink like troll over there for a while.
- Which is a nice segue to my next point about how they handle comments over there. Look, I’m all for Carlson moderating comments as he sees fit on his site. I also agree with Stickee that a rating system is beneficial. But letting the aforementioned Kossack nutbags and an equally heavy serving of HuffPo loons dictate which comments will and will not be seen due to DC’s comment rating system is literally like letting the cuckoo’s run the asylum. Nothing good whatsoever will come of that, I assure you.
Finally, having the balls to lead your second day with the picture below deserves a special kind of applause:

It’s like staring at the Sun…dont’cha think?
Overall it’s a good site and I plan on checking in regularly.
My comment name over there is “thatsright” so by all means say hello…Lord knows you dweebs won’t do it here.

The ‘bama boys at TOM have more.

T links here and oh-so-gloriously plugs himself by plugging another blogger… plugging him…that’s how you do it.
Also, my man T has a post on abortion that’s, well, fairly mindblowing to say the least. My take on abortion is far more simplistic and I most definitely fall into the black and white category.
As far as I’m concerned, because any other point along the pregnancy timeline for purposes of the legality of elective abortion is by definition arbitrary and subjective (how “scientific” does Roe v. Wade’s trimester formula seem to you these days) the only point at which we can objectively define the beginning of life is at conception. This isn’t a religious thing for me; it’s an objective reality thing. I suppose the only other objective point is at full birth, but anyone who’s willing to make that the point of no return for elective abortions is a f**king ghoul.
Anyway, T’s article is something entirely different. It’s rare when you stumble across a legitimately new paradigm for examining an issue whose battle lines are so indelibly etched in stone. This post is one of those. I have to admit it’s gonna take me a little while to fully absorb and break down what T describes as a “Conservative Justification for a Third Option” because it is so new. My first read through today didn’t do the trick.
Read the whole thing, take a breather for however long it takes and then go back and read it again. It’s one of those blog posts that with just a tad bit of refinement could legitimately spur a new national conversation.
For our rudimentary purposes here, I just want to repost the awesome picture T found of probably the best Nittany Lion Shrine accessory I’ve ever seen:

Good on ya T. And good on ya conservative activists at Penn State. While I’m not going to be donating anytime soon, you’re making me once again want to be proud of my alma mater.

Whiskey? Have you ever tried Rebel Yell? I highly recommend it!
I have...very good. Doesn't hold back with the "devil" like some of your more pansy ass bourbon's. Kentucky does three things very well: Horse-racing, college basketball and Whiskey.
Gonna have to give a plug for Makers Mark or the Woodford Reserve. The latter will make you question Jesus if you've never had it.
I'm T Christopher over there. Real original I know.
I love Makers...although sometimes you want the Devil in the Whiskey. I was introduced to Woodford, of all places, on a plane...and I fell in love right there. In fact, even if there's another choice, I prefer Woodford on all of my flights.
Goddamnit...all this talk about Whiskey and now I'm gonna go ahead and have one or six or nine.
Thanks a lot guys! Tomorrow's WYTD post should be awesome!
I'll be looking forward to it. May have to crack open some Woodford myself.
God so loved man that he created bourbon......and Christine Hendricks.
