I got a better idea...Jan
How about just dumping the individual mandate?
This is a couple days old but I missed the first time around.
Apparently Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill) thinks that its pruriently evil that insurance company stock market prices react favorably to news that an individual mandate could be part of any final ObamaCare bill. Of course they do, forcing people to get insurance equals a flood of new premiums.
So what's Rep. Jan's answer to this evil?
A strong Public Option, of course.
No, don't even think about dumping the goddamn individual mandate, complicate matters more by sticking it to the insurance companies through uncompetitive competition. Seriously. Uncompetitive competition:
And then you don't have any competition for the private insurance companies. That's nirvana for them and for the stockholders as well.
So we absolutely need to have some real competition in these uncompetitive markets. And I think a public option certainly is the way to go.
(skip ahead to 2:40)
So let me get this straight, Jan's angry that insurance companies, (plural), stock goes up when they see an IM on the table. But instead of taking that option off the table, she sees a resulting "nirvana" for insurance companies because they'd suddenly have a monopoly in their "uncompetitive markets" that requires "real competition" via the public option to level the playing field?
Holy Lord Illinois. What the hell were you smoking on election day?
I couldn't find a total number of health care insurers in America, but assuming there's more than two, that's competition by definition. And as I've said over and over, there is no such thing as "competition" between the Government and private firms. So what the hell is Jan talking about?
Regardless of what happens-be it stock market prices, polling, demonstrations, etc.-in relation to this debate, the Democrats spin the facts to fit a predetermined outcome. None of it has to make sense, it just has to fit the narrative.
In other words: THEY LIE!
We're gonna have to do the job the media won't do in this fight dear readers. We have to be ready at every turn to refute their lies. I stand ready and willing to direct anyone to the answers they need to defeat every argument the democrats can cook up.
In the struggle.
