I Got Your Competition Right Here.

This is what kind of "competition" we can expect under ObamaCare.

I just finished lecturing E.J. Dionne on why his argument that the public option is simply another "choice" in the marketplace only makes sense under some bizarre definition of 'choice' and 'competition' when what do I see...the perfect example of how there can be no competition when the Government writes the rules and calls the fouls.

HHS in its infinite fairness and objectivity has decided to launch an investigation into private insurer Humana, Inc. for sending out a mailer to its customers warning of the dangers lurking in Max Baucus' just-released chairman bill. Of course, there's nothing wrong with telling your customers these things, but Max the Wise and his henchmen at HHS have decided that in fact something was wrong with it, after the fact.

And herein lies a tailor made example of what will happen anytime a private sector "competitor" steps out of bounds while 'competing' with the Government. Of course, nobody will know where the hell 'out of bounds' starts or ends because Uncle Sam can move them wherever the hell he feels like it at any time. Humana obviously didn't break any laws here, but HHS and Baucus are going to investigate them anyway. Anyone sniffing the same foul stench of intimidation that I am?

Right now the Government isn't even in the arena but they're officiating the game. Imagine how lopsided the score will be once they suit up and start throwing elbows. What private insurer or employer is going to want to play? To paraphrase Cartman from South Park: "Screw you Feds, I'm going home."

Pass this one around folks. If ObamaCare sees the light of day it will be non-stop investigations like this one until one day there's nobody left to investigate and the only one standing on the field will be the federal government.

It's simply not worth playing a game with corrupt officials.
