Iconography and the Branding of Barack Obama
Via Pajamas Media
Bill Whittle at PJTV explores the, well, iconic symbol used by Barack Obama during his campaign and after in the context of its historical and advertising significance.
More importantly for our purposes, Bill explains how the counter-icons using Obama's symbol could create a rebranding; A rebranding over which Obama the Narcissist has no control but that could ultimately be instrumental in breaking down the cult of Obama's personality.
Iconography is a fascinating subject and one about which I regrettably know very little. I'm one to believe that I'm impervious to advertising and the subliminal effects it has on the psyche, but that's probably foolish pride at least to some extent.
Clearly Obama's branding has been unprecedented in both scope and success, at least insofar as the political arena is concerned. Obama is everywhere and the symbol is omnipresent.
Our job is to continue to demean the power of that symbol through ridicule and mockery. I saw numerous examples of this in D.C. on 9/12 and didn't appreciate the full impact until watching this video.

Feels like a time warp here.
While the Reb is unquestionably a better blogger than I can ever hope to be, permit me a second to gloat that I beat him to this piece by four whole days…nearly six crazy months ago. And this is well before I even knew who the Reb was. It’s been onwards and upwards ever since.
Wait…where am I?
On the moon baby…
