What other "facts" do you need?

I think Ed at HotAir is really wonderful, a true asset to our side.

But he shows unjustifiable deference to the White House and the altar of political correctness regarding Obama's 'wait for the facts' speech on the Ft. Hood massacre.

Ed says:

What do we have? A single data point on a mass shooting where the suspect apparently yelled “Allahu akbar!” before killing 13 people. That could mean a wide range of things, from a conspiracy to commit a series of such attacks, to a militant anti-war action, or to just a lunatic with a religious delusion. That’s why we have law enforcement to investigate crimes — so that conclusions will be based on fact rather than conjecture.

What's the difference? Who cares which of those is the actual motive? All of them involve one common thread: Islam. 'Motive', while helpful, is completely irrelevant in the Court of law in which Hasan will be tried. 'Motive' is not an element of the crime; it's not an element of any crime. All it serves to do is help a jury come to a 'guilty' verdict by contextualizing the actual elements of the crime.

On the contrary, not concluding that the killings were motivated by Islam, in one degree or another, makes it all the more likely that the Left's nonsensical narratives will take hold and be accepted as truth. We should be telling this to anyone who will listen and to anyone who won't. I personally didn't need anything more than the man's name and a connection to Islam before concluding this was motivated by his religion and I'm a lawyer. I would prosecute Hasan for premeditated murder on the facts of the case in Court. I'll prosecute him for premeditated murder on the facts of the case in the Court of public opinion as well.

What other "facts" do we need to do so? He's Muslim. He prayed in a mosque, wore traditional garb, has prosylitized his religion and killed a dozen U.S. soldiers in cold blood.

The allegation that he shouted "Allahu Akbar" is besides the point. Every fact we have now points to the unmistakable conclusion that he killed because of his religion. Have we learned nothing since 9/11?

Ed, you botched this one. We don't need any other facts but the ones we have to reach the undeniable, correct conclusion.
