Steny Hoyer: Queen Nancy ain't got the votes
You're welcome: Sincerely, New Jersey/Virginia.
We're not taking full credit, mind you, only partial. Most of the rest of the credit goes to Barack Obama and the American people. The former for doing stuff that so many of us can't stand and not having a clue as to why and the latter for finally saying enough is enough.
Man oh man, we are really, really close to winning this battle. Can you feel it?
As the months tick away in 2010, unemployment will only get worse. I'm not rooting for it to happen, nor would I have to. Unemployment is the natural consequence of Obama's economic theory. It is bound to happen; it is literally inevitable. As unemployment rises, so too will the deficit as outlays continue to outpace revenue and production slows to a crawl. Throw in the inevitable inflation from Stimulus and you've got yourself some good 'ol fashioned Stagflation, only new and improved for the new world.
Our job now is to continue to hammer home the message that it is Obama's policies that cause this. By all means accept responsibility on W's part for TARP, but make it clear that everything after that has only made things worse. This is Obama's economy now. Stimulus multiplied the negative effects of TARP exponentially. ObamaCare and Cap and Trade may put us over the edge; the edge over which the freefall into darkness may be too difficult to stop.
But we are winning right now. Over the summer, prior to August, I would have put the odds of passage of a bill at like 2 to 5. Now, it's even money. And the longer we can hold back the ObamaCare invading hordes, the better our chances become of beating it altogether. The closer we get to the mid-terms and the more people begin to see how truly devastating this bill will be, the greater our chances for victory become.
Russ
