The Obama Factor

Either way, I think he's a factor, the only real question is how much.

The man came to Jersey 5 times to campaign for Corzine which if not unprecedented, is definitely unusual. I don't buy for a second any liberal pundit who says Obama is not keenly interested in what happens tonight. A Republican win here may in fact be bigger than NY-23, at least in terms of its impact on the White House. NY-23 is more of a referendum on ourselves and where we need to take the party. New Jersey, having been graced with the One's presence so often, would be a tragic loss for the White House and any supposed Obama momentum.

Among Corzine supporters in New Jersey, 38 percent said one reason for their vote was to express support for Mr. Obama, while 39 percent of Christie voters said it was to express opposition to Mr. Obama.

I don't know but that seems a fairly high representation of voters who considered Obama a factor in their voting decisions, for both better and worse. I may go back and look, but I highly doubt those numbrers were anywhere near that high the last time Corzine ran for office with respect to George Bush.

I'm a little nervous. This state, already well on the way, will finally spiral into the seventh circle of hell if Corzine gets another crack at it. We will not survive another term. There are so many stupid people in this state but tonight we'll see if there are more intelligent, rational people as well willing to pull the lever for a candidate who is the only one with the potential to literally save New Jersey.

Come on Chris...we need you.

Russ
