Hiding the Real Costs of ReidCare
You didn't think they'd come right and out just tell you...did you?
There was a graph just like this a few months back about one of the earlier versions of ObamaCare, but it's late and I'm not going looking for it.
Suffice to say, the Senate bill is back to the same tricks.

Sneaky bastards.
Taking a page from the Enron School of Accounting, Senate Democrats are intentionally skewing the facts about their "10-year" spending projections for ReidCare. No, I don't wonder why.
The graph spells it out in vivid detail. Rather than starting the counting in 2010, if and when the bill becomes law but doesn't really kick in, we need to start the 10-year count in 2014. When you do that, Reid's claim of a paltry 800 Billion becomes the much more realistic 1.8 trillion in new spending. For my fellow math degenerates out there, that's a trillion more than Reid says it's going to cost.
But there's more. From the Standard:
The Senate Republicans' chart demonstrates that the total for all of these costs -- based on CBO projections for the bill's true first 10 years -- is $2.5 trillion. And costs would only skyrocket from there, as the chart's trajectory suggests. In the 5 years to follow (2024-28), spending on "expansions in insurance coverage" alone would be $1.7 trillion, making the bill's total costs in its real first 15 years well over $4 trillion -- based on CBO projections.
The key in all of this, of course, is that the Democrats want everyone to use a "10 year" tally that doesn't remotely represent what Americans would be on the hook for in terms of real 10-year costs. As the Senate GOP chart demonstrates, the bill's true costs in its first 10 years would be about three times what President Obama, Senator Reid, and their allies are disingenuously claiming.
Ah...anyone else got that good 'ol fashioned 'spirit of Thanksgiving' feeling?
Both bills do this by the way. The real pounding doesn't start until 2013 in Pelosi's bill either. Any guesses why they chose that year for the flogging to begin?
