How do you wake up every morning, get browbeaten with objective fact, have your ass handed to you on an ideological silver platter, make sweet love to yourself twisting those facts to fit your narrative and then...do it all again the next day? 

I don't know how Frum does it. It's really a remarkable feat when you think about it.

Gallup released a poll today that shows Independents have swung around to the Republican side by 22 points...since July!

What's even more striking is that it jumped up seven points in a month, after moving only 2 points the prior three months.

Hmmm....can anyone tell me what moderate, 'big-tent' republican proposal has come down in the last four months that could account for this?

That was a joke.

Now, in fairness, I accept that the Democrats bear significant blame themselves for this reversal of fortunes. They've just been so goddamn contemptuous and despicable throughout this whole health care mess that I'm sure it's turned off a whole lot of Independents.

But there is without question a strong contingent of those Independents that have locked into Conservative principles that have made the most noise in the last few months. Not your David Frum's but your Jim DeMint's. Not your Meghan McCain's, but your Mark Levin's. 

Frum will no doubt twaddle about his business trying to convince to rest of us that this summer's lurch to the Right is bad for the Party and bad for America. He'll spin these facts with tales of woe and intellectual-sounding tripe that only the least observant "lemmings with a side of ostrich"* could believe.

I just want to remind Frum that it is of the highest courage to admit when you're wrong and reverse course when the path you're on will doom you to failure. There is no shame in doing so and I for one will welcome Frum back into the true 'big-tent' with open arms once he does so.

I'm not holding my breath though.
