We are all the Taliban now
Quoth the Democratic National Committee.
With even "mainstream" media outlets questioning how in the world Obama could have won a Nobel Prize for doing nothing, this is as bold as it gets.

The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists - the Taliban and Hamas this morning - in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse told POLITICO. "Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize - an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride - unless of course you are the Republican Party.
"The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore - it's an embarrassing label to claim," Woodhouse said.
How proud are you that Obama won the Nobel Prize for doing nothing? I'm just swelling over here.
Nevermind the fact that conservatives are simply bewildered at the depth of euro-socialist Obama-worship and the Taliban sees no American President as anything but the chief enemy of their cause, (as they should), because both groups expressed displeasure at this Nobel prize stupidity, ipso facto Conservatives are siding with the Taliban.
See how that goes?
I expect an RNC response. I hope it's not this stupid.
I don't think this is the RNC response, but Chairman Steele had something to say:
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele released a statement Friday morning criticizing the Norwegian Nobel ...
Committee's selection of President Obama for the 2009 Peace Prize:
“The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’ It is unfortunate that the president’s star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights. One thing is certain – President Obama won’t be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action.”
Good question.
And while it wasn't directed at the DNC attack ad, Steele does make the point that Obama receiving the Nobel Prize should be seen by no American as a source of "pride". Quite to the contrary, Obama's dismal performance here makes any efforts he's made abroad completely irrelevant.
It is likewise entirely arguable whether Obama has made any such improvement with international relations. As a friend remarked to me earlier, yanking the defensive missile shield from Poland and the Czech Republic certainly didn't endear Obama to Eastern Europe. France and Germany have questioned Obama's priorities as well.
That's the point I was making earlier. All this prize shows is how euro-socialists view Obama as some kind of deity. It is not a reflection of how many other parts of world view Obama. By necessity, every time he makes a new 'friend' or allegedly heals an old wound somewhere in the world, his actions will upset some other country or region of the world and open a new wound.
Obama's healing tours, if they've accomplished anything, have merely shifted the good/bad relations meter from one region to another. Even that's arguable, however, because the region he has most heavily courted, the middle east, has shown no signs of being more receptive to diplomacy.
It may fairly be said that Obama has in fact made things worse on the whole for America's diplomatic relations with the rest of the world, making today's announcement that much more ideological.
Obama doesn't think in terms of geopolitical realism. He is an ideologue whose every move seems calculated toward achieving an ultimate goal of truly universal socialism.
That is why he won the Nobel Prize.

what the norwegian nobel have always completely ignored is the struggle of good vs evil. it has strictly glossed over any right or wrong in war, that maybe, just maybe, the war is for a good cause (although i wish our boys had to fight less for the world).
three better options:
1. morgan tsvangirai of zimbabwe as he attempts to wrestle power from robert mugabe, one of the most ruthless and corrupt dictators the continent of africa has ever seen.
2. the iranian people as they attempt to stand up to a totalitarian regime that gives them no freedoms.
3. ingrid betancourt for her brave stance against the farc guerillas in colombia/venezuela/ecuador.
a nobel prize to any of those would have done a world of good helping them to fight a difficult fight.
but they give it to obama cause he didn't want to go to iraq and wants to talk to madman ahmadenijad. a nobel prize is now just another thing that obama and arafat have in common
I can't disagree with a single statement in that comment.
Good job.
