Obama's Magic 8-Ball

I gotta tell you, this pretty much sums up Obama's decision making process to a tee.
There's nothing inherently wrong with contemplation, obviously, which is kind of how I interpret this painting's message. The problem is that contemplation without conviction is useless and, in the case of an American President making decisions for the welfare of the Country, dangerous as well.
I really haven't put my finger on whether Obama lacks conviction or whether his convictions are pure socialist. I heard a very interesting discussion on this the other day that got me thinking as well whether Obama is the proverbial Manchurian Candidate, a sock puppet for more powerful interests or his own man who just hasn't figured out who he is exactly.
Any of the three can be argued persuasively, with perhaps the caveat that the 'puppet' angle smacks of trilateral commission type conspiracy theory and is the least realistic of the three.
In any event, the point I'd make is that there comes a time when contemplation outstrips its usefulness and becomes a significant burden to progress. Afghanistan is obviously Exhibit 'A' here. And of course contemplation void of principle and reason in the political context comes through as wishy-washiness guided by opinion polling. That kind of contemplation is suicidal when exercised by an inexperienced commander in a dangerous world.
