White House/Fox News Truce?

What the hell does that mean?

Fox reports news with an admitted right-leaning editorial stance and the White House attacks them as being an arm of the RNC...what the hell good is a truce? The White House should just apologize for being a bunch of crybabies, promise never to interfere with the Freedom of Press again and shut the hell up about it.

Truce? Seriously, what does that mean? A "truce", as I understand it, means that both sides to a conflict agree not to engage in the behavior that caused the conflict. I sure as hell hope this 'truce' doesn't mean that Fox will temper its reporting at all.

A very reliable source tells FishbowlDC that Fox News SVP Michael Clemente met with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs this morning and reached what some are calling a "truce."

Clemente then met with the FNC Washington bureau and encouraged staff to remain "fair and balanced."

Listen to me very carefully people, Fox News exists to keep the balance of cable news "fair and balanced". Without them, all of cable news would be one gigantic echo chamber of leftist stupidity and lies. I don't pretend that Fox News itself is "fair and balanced", (although they are most certainly the closest to that standard, relatively speaking), but if they scale back their criticism of the President one bit it will be a huge disaster and a terrible precedent for the First Amendment. The White House is completely out of line in this fight; they have no business whatsoever publicly taking on a news organization like they did. For Fox to agree to a 'truce' is disturbing, to say the least.

Anyway, we'll see exactly what this means in the future. I don't watch a whole lot of TV so if anyone cares to fill me in, we'd love to hear from you.
